There is a buzz in the air
It was announced in September 2019 that £3.6bn is being made available to regenerate over 100 towns across the UK. Stapleford has been chosen as one of the towns to receive funding. Each town is set to receive up to £25m worth of investment in a number of areas.
the Towns Fund will focus on:
1, urban regeneration, planning and land use,
2, skills and enterprise infrastructure and
3, connectivity
In order to deliver the Stapleford Town Investment Plan an Executive board have been convened to create a vision and proposal to secure the funding. Paul Sweeney one of our directors has been nominated as Vice Chair of the board.
After consultation from the Stakeholder board, member of the public and professional bodies the master planning team have put together three proposed schemes.
Project 1: Cycle infrastructure
To reduce usage of cars within Stapleford and to encourage the greater use of sustainable transport, we propose to improve and add to the town’s existing cycle infrastructure.
Project 2: Town Centre Redevelopment
Reinvigorating the Town Centre, we propose to regenerate an existing building in the Town Centre into a multi-use development space. By creating a central focus in Stapleford with a diverse offer, we aim to encourage increased footfall and stimulate inclusive growth and prosperity.
Project 3: Community Leisure Development
To enhance the recreational offer in Stapleford. Providing space for community events and increase the current provision of leisure activities, we will provide a new, purpose-built pavilion facility.
The board have enlisted the help of a number of professional disciplines such as commercial architects and visionaries and currently working on the finer points of the bid document ready to submit in the new year.
This is a once in a generation opportunity to improve Stapleford Town for the local community to attract new businesses to invest in the area, increase visitor numbers and really put the town on the map!
To kick start the project the team have just been awarded an additional half a million pound accelerated fund , so watch this space!
